Centreville Middle School Principal Amy Hudock was at a teacher recruiting fair in Pennsylvania last school year when she got the email. Based on information provided by an anonymous student at her school, another student was threatening to kill himself and a rapid response was needed. She quickly accessed an online database and found contact information for the student’s parents and called them immediately. The parents stepped in, the situation was diffused, and steps were taken to counsel that individual.
